Sketch Challenge 99 at Card Patterns

This is another card I made in response to Card Pattern's Sketch 99. Purple is sooo my favorite colour and I decided to use Cosmo Cricket's Pixielicious patterned papers which has so many of my favorite colours. The doily die-cut is from My Favorite Things and since the doily pattern was rather intricate already, I decided to use a simpler border edge punch for the top of the background patterned paper. I used the Fiskars Threading Water punch.

I decided to use embroidery thread for the ribbon section so as to not make the card seem too 'heavy'. The stamped image is from The Greeting Farm and part of the Miss Anya, Dressy Collection.

As mentioned in my earlier posts, all cards made for card challenges (unless otherwise stated) will be posted on my other blog, Serenity Gemz and also on my Facebook page.

Happy Viewing!

Get Sketchy Card Challenge GS #71

This is my first entry for a card challenge over at Get Sketchy. I did a fairly simple card with an image that I think is uber cute. The stamped image is from My Favorite Things. I coloured her in with Copic markers. Then I die-cut a scalloped circle from Spellbinders Nestabilities "Standard Scallop Circle Large" to stamp the cute sentiment in it. I edged the scalloped die-cut border with Ranger Stickles in Frosted Lace. The design papers are from Basic Grey's Olivia collection.

All the cards I make for the card challenges are also posted and sold on my other blog, Serenity Gemz . Alternatively, I also have a Page in Facebook for Serenity Gemz and the cards will be posted there as well.

Have a great weekend everyone!

MFT Sketch Challenges - Week 3

Time really flies and it's now Week 3 for the Sketch Challenge at My Favorite Things. This is my interpretation of the sketch. Since it is going to be Valentine's Day soon, I thought it apt to make an 'I Love You' Card for this occasion.

The design papers are from Basic Grey's Lemonade Collection and the stamps are from the ala modes 'Key To My Heart' stamp set from My Favorite Things. The girl was coloured in with Copic Sketch Markers and I must say I am truly having so much fun with these markers. The only sad part is that it is difficult to acquire all the colours that I want in Malaysia because the stores never have the colours I want! So I have to buy them from overseas.

I also used Ranger Stickles in Pink to outline the flower cut out from Tim Holtz's Tattered Florals Die. The smaller flower was cut out with the Petal Trio Die-namic from MFT.

Have a great week everyone!

Craft Haul

Last weekend, my hubby took me to Singapore so that I could attend a scrapbooking class by Iris Babao Uy. Iris is an amazingly talented woman and she was also super super nice in answering any question that I had. The class was 4 hours long and the projects were an Artist's Tray and a 12 x 12 layout. I thought it would be a slow paced but fun filled day at the class. Errr, don't get me wrong, it was amazingly fun but it was super STRESSFUL! It was my first time attending any type of craft class. I was struggling to complete my first project when I looked across at another participant, and she was almost completing her second project!! She even had time to make something totally not within the class teaching to be included in her project! I managed to complete some areas but I still have the minute details which I have not finished. Hence, there will be no pictures here until I have finished. :)

This post is about what I managed to get my hands on in Singapore. I probably went overboard but there were just too much goodies to pass over! Bad bad bad....

One can never have enough paper when it comes to card making!

Made With Love in Singapore was having a great deal on the Sizzix Bigz XL Dies. Those dies normally cost SGD89.95 each but they were doing 2 dies for SGD88 so I just had to pick it up. I got one which would allow me to make my own scrapbooking mini albums. The other is more for if you are into making party packs. The die will cut out the toppers you need for the top of the party packs and you can customise it whichever way you want it. I was thinking of doing it for my niece's 1 year old party this Saturday but I don't have enough time to plan and get all the stuff that would be required. Plus the party is getting pretty big!

If you notice my handwriting on some of the photos, it was made possible because my youngest brother in law had a superb idea to get me a Bamboo Tablet for my Christmas present. I'm still trying to master using it but it'll do for now. More about the Bamboo in another post. I'm also excited because my other brother in law from UK is coming back next weekend and I've managed to get some goodies to be sent to him too! Hooray! Now if only I can make myself sit down to make more cards!

MFT Sketch Challenges - Week 1

Sketch for Week 1

My interpretation

This is a card that i made for a sketch challenge over at My Favorite Things. Each week, a new sketch is announced and participants can interpret the sketch in their own little ways.

I made this card for a friend's birthday coming up on January 31. I chose green as the base colour as it is her favorite colour. The stamp is from Hero Arts and the patterned papers are from Cosmo Cricket's Wanted Collection. Am loving the woodgrain papers. The border punches are from Martha Stewart and the scalloped edge one is from Fiskars. The image is coloured in using my Copic markers.

Actually, I was going to post the card I entered for Week 2's sketch challenge but that will have to wait until March because I used the sketch to make a birthday card for my dear hubby. He subscribes to my blog so I do not want him to see the card just yet! My next posting for the sketch challenge will have to be for Week 3 then!

Have a great day!

Tags/Bookmarks for Friends

This Christmas, I wanted to make sure that I sent Christmas cards to four of my dear friends. These are friends I have known since my college days and although we do not get to see each other, I just wanted them to know that they are in my thoughts. The quotes on the bookmark reads "True friendship is seen through the heart, not through the eyes" and "Wishes are the magic in our heart that cause beautiful things to happen". I included a small metal snowflake charm on each tag to symbolize the Christmas season.

More Customised Cards

This is just a short post on two cards I made recently for a friend. One is a non-conventional card to congratulate new parents on their baby boy. The other is a birthday card for a great mother-in-law.

This is a departure from your conventional colours for baby cards but I thought it would make an interesting card. Could not live without adding a little sparkly to the card. Hope my friend likes it!

The flowers for the above card are made of felt enhance with crystals. The happy birthday word is embossed with sparkly silver.

I have more custom cards to show but I just have not had the time to upload it onto the blog! Will try to do so as soon as possible!

HAPPY NEW YEAR to everyone and may all have a blessed 2011!!
